I know film fans out there that love the low budget underground masterpieces of the 70’s and 80’s.  That’s when underground film had a developed and devoted fan base. With the lack of them nowadays, well there are some, but those are usually polluted by cheap effects and over the top acting, it is almost like the underground fan has been forgotten and should slash their wrists.  Drop the razor, don’t slash that flesh just yet…there is hope.  An Underground King exists today and his name is Bill Zebub.

I have come to love Bill Zebub Productions.  The films are a true example of fining pure passion for making film in the most unlikely packaging. Zebub had already taken to interesting places with his other films.  For the third charm he took me to the aftermath of a rape. “Rape Is A Circle” is 100% of the wildness I expected from Zebub, but a lot more. We’ve all seen the exploitation rape themes from decades past, but has the rapist ever taken the female form? I can’t remember ever seeing this.  It’s a great twist though.  Flip it and let the woman hand out the pain.  Instead of spending the aftermath of her rape in a shower crying, or in denial, Zebub’s rapist believes in an eye for an eye. Her revenge is not taken out on only the penis, her rage is passed on down to innocent bystanders.  Her life is in ruin, so why not put others in turmoil as well.  Kind of like American politics right?

“Rape Is A Circle” shows Zebub taking a serious tone. The realization of how the damage of rape spreads in multiple directions is shown in the most extreme way, but the underlying theme is true to life. The film is the metamorphosis of pain. I loved the harsh dialogue of this film more than any film of this type.  It’s hard, precise and spot on for the characters. Zebub has created one nightmare of a chick that will always remind me that no means not…at least the fourth no. “Rape Is A Circle” opens like an Internet porno and then proceeds into an inescapable box of torment. With this film Zebub pushes the naughty senses once again.  “Rape Is A Circle” is sadistic, mean, psychotic and hot.  Grab a gun and some tissue.
